Parts of a whole

According to Wikipedia, "An ecosystem is a community of living organisms (plants, animals and microbes) in conjunction with the nonliving components of their environment (things like air, water and mineral soil), interacting as a system. These biotic and abiotic components are regarded as linked together through nutrient cycles and energy flows."

Surely in this day and age
our individuality and personal
sense of self rules?

Where would be the will to live
and the fun of choosing who we are
if that were to diminish?

It would be like a spark of life going out.

Mystics have spoken of a human journey
as one of enlightenment and gnosis
and becoming one with the whole
and great white spirit.

Throughout nature, we witness
cycles and exchanges
and we nod and appreciate
as all the parts co-ordinate
and contribute to a whole.

And yes, we see this or that
and struggle to comprehend
how multiple realities can co-exist
beyond their competitive nature.

We can see our journey
into meaning and
lasting fulfillment
as if each one of us
is moving from a seed
and into maturity
through a flowering of
our consciousness.

Quite a vision, isn't it, imagining
for a moment, a universe filled with
multiple flowerings of consciousness?
It would be glorious in its array.

And if all were humming a song
that is unique to their journey
and yet as one voice, one hymn
it would make even the most glorious
experience of our greatest cathedrals
pale if put alongside it.

It is good to know that
we might never fail
at being who we are and that
there is a universe all-ways
present to our journey
and which listens and responds.
