What makes a great teacher?
Is it one who reveres accepted ways of looking at the world
only to instill these same ideas in another - tinkering with the natural curiosity
that arises, only to gleefully suppress it, subdue it, outwit it?
Perhaps it is, if such a role acts as a catalyst,
opening the floodgates for a larger, more inclusive vision
and comprehension to emerge,
for surely creativity allows change and is a natural order of things?
It is a gift for a teacher to meet a student where they are and not just look
but see into them, embrace them, know them, honor them
and allow a space for them both
to emerge refreshed, renewed and more than they were before
I call them as they are,
conscious and skilful weavers and practitioners of relationship
As you pause and look about you in life
you will notice that there are many teachers
of varying hues and qualities
Some with carefully polished nameplates
so as to dazzle and gleam in your eye
and others that are innocently unaware
of just how powerful and potent they are
through simply being who they are
And as you open to life's presence and your own
you will notice that simplicity and complexity
reside side by side
and communication, nay, communion begins
Therein lies the song
and the art of relationship
